My story

Why I do this

The story behind Chris Taylor Online, and why business owners trust me with their growth.

I've always believed growth should give you more freedom, not less.

For me, social media has never been about posting for the sake of posting or chasing attention online. It is about creating demand and turning that attention into revenue.

More importantly, that growth should help you build a better business. One that becomes less dependent on you as it grows, rather than leaving you busier, more stretched and even more involved in the day-to-day.

That belief is a big part of why I work so closely with business owners who want growth to give them more freedom.

The turning point

What working with business owners showed me

I've spent years working in sales and marketing, building businesses and helping companies turn attention into revenue.

Across that time, I've generated more than £163 million in sales for clients, supported finance raises in excess of £60 million, built and sold through social media, run campaigns, webinars and sales systems, and worked with businesses across a wide range of industries.

But working with business owners made something really obvious to me.

A lot of business owners don't have a marketing problem because they aren't good enough at what they do. Quite often, the opposite is true.

They are brilliant at what they do. They care deeply about their customers and have built a strong reputation. The problem is that the business often still relies too heavily on them personally.

They are serving customers, answering messages, dealing with the team and then trying to find time to keep social media moving as well.

The business can look successful from the outside, while the owner is still trapped in the middle of everything.

That is the part I wanted to help change.

Chapter 01

I don't believe social media should create more work for a business owner

I've never been particularly interested in social media for the sake of social media.

I care about what happens commercially because of it.

Does the content bring the right people into the business? Does it help those people understand the value of your products or services? Does it create enough trust for somebody to enquire, buy and eventually become a long-term customer?

Most importantly, can that process become repeatable?

Because the goal shouldn't be to constantly ask what to post next.

The goal should be to build a system that creates demand consistently and gives the business a much clearer route from somebody discovering it to becoming a customer.

Chapter 02

That is what I now help businesses build

I help business owners connect social media, better offers and stronger customer acquisition systems so their marketing creates measurable revenue, rather than simply more activity.

For me, though, the revenue is only part of the result.

I also want the owner to become less essential to the day-to-day running of the business.

That means building repeatable campaigns, improving the way enquiries are handled and creating a customer journey that the wider team can actually support.

Whatever the business sells, if it generates another £10,000 per month but the owner has to work dramatically harder to make it happen, we have only solved half of the problem.

The better outcome is a business that grows while becoming more organised, more predictable and less dependent on one person.

Chapter 03

That is why I do this

I want business owners to build businesses that give them more choice.

A business that can attract customers consistently and grow without the owner having to personally drive every part of the process.

Social media is a huge part of that, but it is never the whole answer.

The real opportunity is using it as part of a connected commercial system that turns attention into customers, customers into recurring revenue and growth into a business that works better without constantly demanding more from its owner.

That is the kind of business I help people build.
